Which ball diamond was it used to mow? Can you give an address or something? Was it a city facility or private? Seems recent enough that someone ought to know. I live in Vinton now, but lived in Marion from 1985-1995. I have worked at Rockwell in Cedar Rapids for 23 years.

I'll keep an eye open for it - it would be hard to miss a blue AC!

Thanks Gary, The ball diamond was behind the shopping center where the bowling alley, Orscheln (Fleetway) are located. The ball diamond was private and owned by the Katz brothers, they owned quite a bit of land, along with Marion Iron Works. The one brother Bert Katz is wintering in California & won't be back until spring. The other brother has passed away. I learned all this on Friday. I appreciate your efforts. Mark

The tractor had been owned by the Katz Brothers of Marion Iowa and had been used to mow the Marion Mobile Home Park & a ball diamond. Several years ago the tractor had been traded for 2 Simplicity Lawn Tractors in the Newhall/Norway area.

Today's Featured Article - Harvestin Hay: The Early Years (Part 2) - by Pat Browning. The summer of 1950 was the start of a new era in farming for our family. I was thirteen, and Kathy (my oldest sister) was seven. At this age, I believed tractor farming was the only way, hot stuff -- and given a chance I probably would have used the tractor, Dad's first, a 1936 Model "A" John Deere, to go bring in the cows! And I think Dad was ready for some automation too. And so it was that we acquired a good, used J. I. Case, wire tie hay baler. In addition to a person to drive th ... [Read Article]
