cut my first tooth on a 51 it would lift the front wheels off the ground if you had it in low and let out the foot clutch while lifting a heavy load of silage on an old lister frame. there is a hi pressure relief valve that lets the lift bypass when fully lifted or you raise too heavy a load. You need to find a Fiat-Allis shop with a presure gauge and a mechanic who knows how to adjust it. I think that pump puts out 3500 ftlbs but is low volume. If the arms jerk as they raise you could have a broken spring or two in the pump but I dont think that will affect the presure.

it was a valve, had a spring broke, i put a set of ih 666 lift arms , lift pieces off a 3600 ford , i moved about 10 850 lb round bales with it today, hyd, are a little slow, but i really like using the old girl, on a twp gravel road with a 850 lb bale a pretty long hill right up it in road gear, with one 75 lb ih wt on the front , gasser up and it will lift the front wheels about a foot, fun to play with,

Have fun but b careful. Lots of power to weight ratio and have been told of guys flipping over by chaining to tractor at axel or lift arm cross bar. also if you pick up a AC mounted plow she'll pull 3/14s in most conditions walking the dog. B sure to attach plow to lift arms with pop open snap adapters. early plows bolted tight and when the 3rd point under the belly came loose or broke the plow would jab in the dirt and come up into the seat with you. Lost a few good ole boys that way. Would love to have one of my own just to play with, and may someday, but for now my brother has Dads 51 and lets me do his chores with it. :-)
