What ever you use, have a PTO slip-clutch on the PTO shaft, and make sure you adjust it so it CAN slip, if it has to..!!! That will take a lot of the shock out of the drive line.... The older WD PTO is not quite as strong as the WD-45 PTO....the lower gear box was strengthened in the 45...but, I have broken mine once, in the WD-45...The top "Ears" break off that hold the idler to the top of the lower gearbox.. The 45 gearbox would fit the WD also...would be a good up-grade...!! But..it HAD seen enough service, for 4 tractors.!! Many 1,000's of hours of custom combining and baleing...also Bush Hogging.... If I bought a WD-45.I would take the lower gearbox off, and have it Magnafluxed...just for peace of mind..!!
