Found a chalmers semi mount plow. Should the rear wheel have a hydrolic ram attached? (obviously none, but looks to be brackets for one to raise the rear wheel) Also, it has a second board on the third bottom, one obviously broken off of the 2nd, and none on the 1st or 4th. Should there be the second board on all four? Can you still get any of these?

Would the ram need two direction hydrolic? Looks to be a bracket for the lines, and it appears to be double.

It should have a cylinder mounted toward the front. It doesnt have to be a 2-way cylinder. I have a 9000 series with a 1-way.

More commonly called "Cover Boards"....

TSC used to have add-ons that worked just fine....some after-market cover boards are steel, some plastic....I guess both work well....at least I never broke a plastic one....!!!

One of the most improtant parts of the AC plow is the Heel ...or Heel Slide..it must not be worn out....doesent cost much to replace...Bolts to the rear Landslide.... The Hydrolic hose bracket on my Semi-mounted has 2 spots for hoses....never used the second ....only uses 1 hose..!! The rear wheel "Scizzers" should be in fairly good shape ( or rebuilt ), or it may "shimmey" at highway speeds...

Scooter,
If it is snap coupler and used on an Allis Chalmers tractor with a transport valve, it uses a single action cylinder, one hose high pressure. Duey

I think it should have a ram, but the double bracket has me wondering. I've delt extensively with a ford plow, but the ac we had as a kid was a mounted, and only had one board per bottom (same as ford)..... ..is this board called a landside?????

Scooter,
Yes it requires a hydraulic cylinder to operate the "tail wheel". If it is a snap coupler hitch, it would use a single action cylinder and transport valve to assist the traction boost system on a Allis Chalmers tractor. If it is a three point hitch, a double action cylinder could be used on any three point hitch tractor.
The land slide is just that. It slides along against the side of the furrow, to keep the plow following straight. Usually the rear bottom "landslide" is longer and has an adjustment for additional side pressure to keep the plow straight. As far as I know, all of the other bottoms should have a short landslide. Possibly the "board" you are referring to is an additional sharply curved smaller moldboard that is mounted on top of the regular moldboard and is used to turn heavy trash under. Duey
