Aaron; First, crank starting any engine can be hazardous if not done properly. Turn engine SLOWLY until compression begins to build. Then re-engage the crank with handle at bottom. Pull crank up to top. DO NOT try to rotate crank in a full circle. If the engine kicks back as you're going over the top you could be seriosly injured if hit by crank. Engines that have been setting for a long time tend to be stiff. Baby it for a while as you would a rebuild. It should start fairly easy IF the fuel mixture is right and the timing correct. But, as I said it may be stiff for a while, and a bit tough to start, remenber, half turns on the crank, kick backs hurt, after you wake up that is.

One more thing-DO NOT wrap your thumb around the crank. That way if it does kick back, the crank will slip out of your hand.
