The WD (except for about the last year of production) had a different transmission. The WD had a sliding gear transmission while the newest WD's and the WD45 had a constant mesh transmission. It's easy to tell them apart. The old sliding gear tranny had a straight shifting lever while the shifting lever on the constant mesh unit was curved.

Yep, they sure will. Just have to be careful of how the torq tubes go together. I think that they don't exactly match up at the bottom and have a seaping problem. Dad had to weld a small piece in the bottom of a WD torq tube he put in a WD 45.
