Clam shell fenders to me are the same style as on the later WC and WD tractors. Yours should have fenders like a UC which are much larger and primitive looking. Also the exhaust shouldn't go through the hood but you need the correct manifold which shoots it out the side.

Absolutely right-on the fenders and the exhaust system. Just bought a manifold for my 1937- they are hard to come by since so many were rerouted straight up through the hood. And "clamshell fenders" refer to the curved ones on sytled WC and WD, WD45. Flattops go on the unstyled WC, like the UC, etc. The pictures in Swinford's book prove it, as well as the serial number references.
