When I started farming in 1972 I had a mid mount mower on a D17- I think it was a Model 80. Check various castings for 80 or 82. You do not have a pitman drive because it was twin-wheel: that let the bar operate at extreme up and down angles, which a pitman drive would not do. The 80R was rear mounted, the 80S was side mounted. AC also made a trailing mower with wheels with twin wheel drive- it eliminated the pitman arm, but the bar connecting to the sickle was a major wear point, and had a breakage problem.
