Don, I know that the front end will come off the ground when going uphill and fighting a surgeing engine. On the flats, it didn't do it. As for sidehill operation, set the wheels wide, unless you've got one that has the 10-1/2" axle housing,then sidehills could be a problem. The front weight is a good idea for safety.

Eric, I have a G with the 10.5" rear axle housings - can you tell me anything about this option? I have heard about references to it being an "asparagus special". Any info you have would be appreciated! G's are a liitle prone to coming up in the front - even when backing down ramps and applying the brakes. A front weight really helps! Thanks, Chuck

Chuck, check your e-mail. The G seems to have been modified for many various tasks. Narrowed for getting between string bean rows and Ollaberry rows here in the Watsonville Ca. area.

Thanks Eric - I got your email too. I know that many Gs have been modified in many strange ways, but the rear axle housings on this one look factory or were done very professionally. I guess they would have had to shorten the axles as well since the wheel flange is spaced correctly too. The tires are very skinny compared to most I have seen - they are 4.00x36 and the wheels look factory as well. I have yet to run into anyone who knew for sure if the factory ever made a narrow version or not. Thanks Again, Chuck

Chuck, I thought I had seen a G in Central Calif Valley that had those tires as well. Very skinney and bigger dia. than standard. Yes, those axle housings wern't done under the shade tree. It would be interesting to research that sapect of the G.

Chuck, those tires look like they need to be stored in a safety deposit box!! Nice looking tractor. Must be for Asparagus.

The wheels can be turned inside out, or switched side to side (to keep the tread in the correct direction) to greatly increase the width of the tractor. And the rims can be mounted in various ways to the wheels to also increase the width.
