The firing order on a G is 1342. #1 is away from the flywheel which in the case of the G is to the rear. I don't know off hand which hole on the distributor was originally #1. It could be any depending on how it was last reinstalled. To check, remove the spark plugs so you can turn the engine over easily by pushing the tractor or using the hand crank. Hold your finger over #1 spark plug hole until the air is being forced out which means that #1 is the next cylinder to fire. Now, pop the cover off the distributor and look to see which is the next hole the rotor is going to be pointing to. The will be #1, then just go 1342 in the clockwise direction.
