James,
I just took out a light switch from a WD ammeter panel. The attaching nut was rusted fast in there, so I soaked it with PB blaster which is a rust buster. The best way to get that nut loose after you soak it with a good penetrating oil is use what's called a "crows foot". The easiest way to explain it is picture just the end of a 9/16" open end wrench, and right behind the open part is a square where a ratchet extension snaps into, and you remove it slowly with a ratchet. This gives you the opportunity to put equal force on the nut to remove it, where putting a wrench on a steep angle will surely spell disaster in snapping it off. If your patient, it works like a charm! My crows foot is a Snap-On, but I'm sure Craftsman offers one too. The OEM switches are servicable. I've restored quite a few for folks with great results. Just take yer' time.. Good Luck!
