First step is to start by determining which series of 17 you have. The first two series were all original persian orange except rear rims were silver. Many of these have been repainted with the later orange and some even with the orange and cream colors.
I think you might have to take paint code to auto parts store and have the paint mixed to get original persion orange. It is Dupont std 81-8444 according winter 99 issue of Old Allis News

Series 3 and 4 were Persian orange 2 with cream wheels (rear rims still silver). Persion orange#2 is Dupont Std 112-8300. It would be safe to get the cream from an Allis dealer.
It said these Dupont numbers are for an old formulation and had to be converted by the Dupont dealer.
If you don't know what series you have start by giving us the serial number and someone can look it up. If yours has round muffler and headlight by the grill it is probably a series 1 or 2. If it has oval muffler, headlights on the rear fenders it should be a series 3 or 4.

I have the following information:

PPG #60080 - listed as "persian orange" by PPG

PPG #60396 - listed as "persian orange" by PPG

DuPont #655 - listed as "persian orange" by DuPont

DuPont #29047 - listed as "allis chalmers orange" by DuPont

I have personally confirmed that PPG #60080 is the earlier orange...referred to on this board and others as "persian #1". PPG#60396 has significantly more red in it and likely is the "persian #2", so called.

I have not confirmed the DuPont numbers as to which is which but suspect the 655 is the earlier pumpkin shade referred to as persian #1.

The above numbers are currently mixable in DuPont's NASON line and PPG's OMNI line of automotive paints.
