Well.... I guess we didn't drive it enough to work out all the kinks before paint. Drove the tractor a couple weekends ago at church pulling the kiddie barrel train. Very little oil smoke that morning at start up, 2 hours nonstop later and it was puffing pretty good, and spitting a bit of oil out of the exhaust. Oil level hasn't dropped noticably. Oil pressure stayed the same all day. Have driven it a couple times since then and it's really smoking now. Some at idle, but you rev it up fast and it pours smoke..... Rings? Valve seals?

Quoting Removed, click Modern View to see Probably ALL. Engineers designed those engines to generally wear out everywhere at the same time. This would be different if the engine was overheated or had a bad air cleaner hose and was dusted. I said 30 wt NON-Detergent. I'll bet you have detergent oil which usually smokes more.

Honestly, I'm sure it's both and too wide of grooves in the pistons and a ring edge on all the sleeves. Do yourself a favor and try some of the cheapest straight 30 weight NON-detergent oil and give it the same run time and see what that does for the smoke factor.

I'm running straight 30 weight..... Longer I run it the more it smokes, usually they smoke a while and clear up , after they have sat for years.... Darn it.

Warm it up and do a compression check and a leak down check and see where the problem maybe
