Small crack in block model C between #2 and #3 sleeve

Just how common is it on these blocks? I recall many years ago having a discussion about this issue. Seems it is a very common trait of this engine. My memory tells me that Dick L thought it wasn t much of an issue. Just remove freeze plug and drill and tap for 1/2" - 13 bolt.
 
If its a hair line crack, just go ahead and assemble with a new gasket... Removing the freeze plug
and putting in a cross tie bolt was trying to fix an EXCESSIVELY large crack ... one you can get
your fingernail into.
 
its not a big deal. there is many engines out there with a crack between the sleeves. the mccormick wk40 is a good example.
