I'm getting ready to split my C to install a new ring gear and clutch. It hasn't got hydraulics, is there anything special I need
to do or watch for? It looks like it will be pretty easy.

Just don't let it tip over sideways on the front wheels. Pretty simple and straightforward.

Hyds on a C run off the PTO/Flat belt so no problem even if it had them. Big thing it keeping the front from falling like DR. says

I put jack stands under the drawbar both sides to the tires have no weight on them and one under the torque tube. I use an engine lift on the front.
The picture is of an engine swap I din one afternoon.

When splitting the C I see that there are two bolts from the oil pan into the rear part. In order to get it back together without any leaks do I need to drop the oil pan and replace the gasket?

No need to remove pan bolts. When you have the throttle and choke rods removed or pulled out of the way. With the gas line and wiring out of the way you only have 4 1/2 bolts to remove, two on each side, You are then ready to split it.
