WD 45 Gas ring and pinion.

Will it fit in a early D17. With 18.4 x 38 tires looks like it would speed it up 2 mph. From 12 at 3000 to 14 thanks Vic

Should go right in. The increase is 14 to 15% in speed.

I have it together and have pulled it 4 times. 4250 6mph and 8 mph 1st in both. Then 4500 6 mph and 8mph. Got 6th in 6 mph and 2nd in 8mph. Pulled in 3rd every time. When tore 3rd out was pulling 5000 open. Still got 3rd. Place. What I would like to do is speed 1st up to faster than 3rd is now. .know anybody that has done that.thanks again

**** Pretty sure the best "fix" for your third gear failure is to use both (top and bottom) third gears from a newer D-17 or D-19. The gears are stronger and even a different tooth count, but the same ratio/speed. I also think that second gear (the pair) was improved as well, again in later model D-17 (like series 3 and 4) and probably most D-19's. Anything faster than third gear would be a custom made pair of gears.
