C oil rings

We got our C started. runs fine, good oil pressure. Blowing a lot of smoke. The ring set we bought has cast iron one piece oil rings, not the usual 3 piece type. Will they seat and stop burning oil? The smoke does seem to have decreased a bit after a few minutes of running.

In theory yes it should stop smoking as much as thing wear in

If you had a lot oil in and around the rings for assembly this can cause smoke for a while.

Hew Sleeves? What was the ring gap?

We honed the old sleeves. Seemed like minimal wear. Ring gap was in spec.

are the compression rings NOT installed upside down ? but u say few minutes of running? that smoke from over hauling disappears quickly once started. once warmed up with rad covered if needed , get it in high gear on the road then go from idle to full rpm for a mile and back. then work it normally under 3/4 load for couple hrs, meaning one lower gear. then good to go.
