d 17 gas guage

I took the non working D-17 gas gauge apart, Hoped it just needed a float , but there is no contact between needle gauge and the mechanical rod ,,i think i need a new gauge unless you guys have seen this before and know how to fix it ,,. let me know . Also need a gasket and i bet a sediment bulb gasket will do the trick ?.

I don't think a sediment bowl gasket will fit. Get the right one along with the new gauge.
