AC B question.

Yes it should have a thermostat. Follow the upper hose to where it goes to the head. There is 2 bolts there that take a 7/16 wrench/socket to remove. Once that is off you will see the thermostat but I'll warn you the bolts are likely to break right at the head so a pain in the back sides to work on. BTDT

Notorious for failing, but usually they basically dissolve. The thermostat sits in a little groove and the neck clamps it down. Be sure to use sealnat on the bolts and copper washers under the heads. I personally went to stainless bolts because the ones I took out were mostly dissolved.

As I remember a Chevy thermostat will fit. I drill a 1/8 hole in them to make sure some coolant flows by even when closed, this helps the water circulate past the thermostat so a cold pocket does not get trapped in the neck (it shouldn't but sometimes stuff happens). B's have big radiators and normally cooling is not an issue.

Also make sure the belt is tight enough to drive the pump and the pump is actually pumping.

Search Google for "DJS1775D". The first result is what you need. If you don't need the new temp gauge, you can sell it to someone who does.

I have never used a thermostat in my B's and C's. When I was a kid my Dad always removed the thermostat in the summer on his C and put it back in in the winter. I don't use my little B's or C's in the winter. All of mine had the water jackets clean when I rebuilt them. They warm up in a short time under load. I have used the C most days every week mowing grass, hay and mulching manure for the last 13 years. Starts instantly and no smoke. I found in heavy grass or hay It mowes just as well at half throttle to keep from plugging the vacuum. In light yard grass I run is second gear at, at least 15% over call for RPM's. It was rebuilt 13 years ago with all used parts and posted in pictures as I rebuilt it to prove these tractors can be rebuilt with spend big bucks and still last.
