What is the value of an Allis Chalmers 1952 Model WD tricycle type
with a single front tire? Serial # WD180108 It has a recently overhauled engine and runs very well.

***** That serial number is a later 1954 WD-45. SO, now it's actually worth more if it has a WD-45 engine in it. Where did you get this serial number from ?? the engine block?? or on the rear end just above the lift arm shaft ??

I found the serial number on the left rear of the rear axle housing.

Should I look somewhere on the engine block?

That sounds like the right spot for the serial number. Single front is a bit more rare. I'd say $1500-1800 or so without pictures.

So, it is a legit WD-45 chassis built in later 1954. The engine serial number is behind the carb to air cleaner hose stamped on the block. A WD engine will read W-XXXXX. A real WD-45 engine will read 45-XXXXX.

I found the spot on the engine block under the carb and air cleaner. It was rusty, so I cleaned it with some paint thinner to remove the rust. I can't make out the numbers. I'll have to get a magnifying glass and probably some better eyes to see if we can make it out. I did find a casting number above it just below the cylinder head. If that would help, here's what it is: NK16U
There's also a casting number on the lower right side of the block.
It's: AM 3853-21 and just below it is the number "3" if this might help.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. I didn't hold out much hope, but, you never know....I'll take a closer look tomorrow in the daylight (the tractor is sitting outside the shop) when I can see better and maybe one of my guys with a li'l bit better eyesight can look at it also. Thank you so much for your help. Maybe we'll chat again tomorrow. Have a pleasant evening.
