AC Model B/IB Carb Question

Hello all! I just picked up a 1946 or so IB and I have a carb questions.

It ran good when I picked up it up but the trip home on my very rough road introduced a fast idle problem. It idles now at near full throttle.

I inspected the linkages from the throttle to the governor and that looks good. I followed the rod from the governor to the throttle plate on the carb and I see that there is a spring hanging on that rod next to the carb. I figure that got bumped off on the drive. It looks the small spring puts tension on the throttle plate.

Any idea where the other end of that spring attaches?

Depending on where the spring sits on the linkage it could be the spring that hooks to the manifold and if it is that one yes it could cause the problem you have since the Gov. would not have pressure to bring to the home position

grab the throttle rod at the carburetor and push it back to the idle position to see if it
works.... then figure out if you need the spring, or have additional problems.

Thanks, I found where the spring goes but I also plan to work on the linkage next week when I get some time. The linkage is a little sticky. [/code:1:2209e1df11]
