Allis B distributor question help needed

Grandson has an Allis B with magneto w/electric start and he would like to convert it to a distributor system off of an Allis C. Do we need do something with the governor or is it just a swap out?

If my memory serves me there was more too it that a simple swap. I did a search here but didn't find an a answer.

I would appreciate it if someone has successfully done this.

I'm thinking the C was only built with the magneto. B's were in production so long that the later ones came from the factory with
battery ignition. What does this C donor tractor have, an OEM type distributor drive, or a Delco conversion? The popular Delco conversion drive assembly bolted right on in place of a magneto, on any tractor. You can replace the magneto on any of those small block AC engines with an
OEM distributor drive by changing the governor drive gear/shaft assembly.

To answer your question I'll have to go outside and see what make the distributor is.

The distributor was mounted in a C with a spun bearing I have. We did check fitment and the distributor fits right into the grandsons B's governor housing. Looks like a perfect marriage.

To me it should work. But somewhere I read that you need to change out the governor shaft/assembly and I don't know why??

That's why I'm asking. I don't want to have him do damage to his project tractor
 
Wording needs to be more specific. A Delco Remy distributor was used on the AC tractors with an OEM battery ignition. A Delco Remy
distributor was also used on the very popular Delco Remy distributor drive assembly which was an aftermarket replacement for a
magneto on many tractors. It sounds like you're describing the Delco assembly which bolts right in, in place of a magneto. If
that's the case, no change is necessary in the governor/gear/drive assembly.
