My 1950 WD has no spark . It has 12 volt conversion with a voltage regulator. I have completely rewired it. Theres power to the new coil but still no spark. Could someone please give me some ideas? Thank you. Steve.[/img:ba72eee2d3]

Here is a simple test that will tell you if the points are doing there job or if you have a short. Hook up a hot wire from the ignition side of the battery and with the ignition turned off and points closed touch the ignition side of the coil. You should get a small spark when you do. Then turn the engine n over and get the point open and do the same thing but this tiem you should get no spark. If you get a spark when open you have a short. If you don't get a spark when closed the points are bad or need to be cleaned

Did you use an internally resisted coil? If not, did you put one of those ceramic resistors in line with the coil? May have fried the points/condenser.

I just went through a similar troubleshooting exercise with my D14. Once I confirmed I had spark at the coil, and did not have spark at the plugs (confirmed by turning engine over while holding an old plug connected to the distributor to the block), I started inspecting the rotor. The prong on top of the rotor wasn't making contact with the distributor cap. I put the old rotor that was a slightly different style back on the distributor, put the cap on, and I had spark, but it wouldn't start. I then put the new style rotor back on and bent the brass prong slightly up to ensure contact with the cap, and reset the timing, and it started right up. Hope this helps, in case the above wasn't successful. Good luck!

*I did ensure new points were gapped correctly, new capacitor, and put several drops of 3 in 1 oil on the distributor shaft. When moving the distributor shaft from the rotor, I did not have much play in the shaft.
