The rear end on my D-14 was noisy at road
speed (10-12 mph).I took it to an AGCO
dealership for repairs.
They went thru it and replaced some worn
parts and bearings. They put a low multi-
viscosity lubricant in it similar to motor
oil. Can't remember exact viscosity.They
said that's what was recommended by AGCO.
The rearend is still pretty noisy. I assume
that the lower vis is used in the
newer tractors, but is this good for my old
D-14?

I use 80w90 gear oil in my D14's, it would likely keep the noise down a bit in the colder part of the year especially.

Hi , I have a 1943 Allis Chalmers model C and the manual calls for a sae 20W for the transmission and I was wondering if I could use a sae 20 instead ?
Are they interchangeable or is there a difference ? And could I use it for the gear box as well ?
I don't really know what I'm doing here , I'm trying to fix up my dad's old tractor and he passed away a few years and I don't want to mess anything up.
I would really appreciate any help , thank you so much for your time.
