WD follow up

I posted a message a few months ago about
a wd I got at auction and showed no oil
pressure. I removed oil pan and inspected
all the bearings and oil pump and couldn't
find anything obvious. The #2 rod wasn't
torqued right and in backwards. I turned
it the right way and had to use thicker
shims before it stopped squeshing plasti
gage completely. When I tried it was no
better and realized it may have been
partially just the gage. With a different
gage it almost halfway on normal when cold
but almost nothing when it's hot still.
Also since I turned piston it smokes blue
bad and has oil coming out of muffler but
maybe it will come in handy knowing if
it's smoking it must have some oil
pressure to throw up cylinder? I doubt
replacing oil pump would be worth trying
ah? I've been using it for loader work and
happy with it.

These engines will run on little to no oil pressure as long as you have oil flow. Oil pressure can be lost through worn cam bearings as well as worn crank bearings.

(quoted from post at 14:05:34 09/30/21) I agree with Tom

Along with what has been posted, is the center tube complete and inside the oil filter. If missing, or the hole is oversize, oil pressure will be low to none.
