G tractor problem?

Was using it to cultivate. It stopped moving forward or reverse. Have engine out, clutch looks fine, have had gear cover off they seem to look ok.Have not went into the main transmission. We just bought this tractor a couple of weeks ago at consignment sale. Had been running fine. Thanks.

Probably the first thing I would have checked would be the axles. They are the weak link on the drive train. If one of them is broke it will not move. Everyone I have had apart has been broke and have been welded. All were close to the seal from the transmission. Usually end up rewelding them and putting them in a lathe to true then back up so the seal would not seep oil. Lee

That happened to me when I was using a G to plant small grain plots.
I was at the Charleston SC station and it just quit pulling.
Got it pulled on the trailer and got it back to Clemson.
The ring gear on the differential had snapped all the rivets holding it on.
Went to the AC dealer in our community at the time and got bolts to fasten it back.

I wouldn't think cultivating would have loaded it enough to break an axle although as others have said the axles are a weak link in Gs. I believe axles are available. Not sure where but I have seen them. Maybe DJS parts. Possibly AGCO has them. Maybe this site. Call Sandy Lake for AGCO if you can't find one, they do a lot of AC.

You snapped an axle, common on Gs. I did one using the brake to turn on dry grass while mowing. The slpined inner end twisted off. Took the diff out to make sure there were not chips left inside.

To everyone that posted Thank you. The left side axle twisted off at the splines as Mikes did. Were looking for an axle now and will clean out the transmission case for chips. Thank you again.
