D17 wrist pin installation

I'm looking at the instructioms for
installing the wrist pins in the Pistons
and rods on D 17 it says to make it
flush with the skirt but the skirt is
actually higher than where the wristband
comes out of the piston do I use a
straightedge and lay it across the top
of the skirt to the top of the piston
and but it 2 that
 
IIRC when I overhauled my brother's D17 I just laid the piston and rod assembly across the open jaws of a vise or on a block of wood. You just need something for the wrist pin to bottom out against and for the connecting rod to bottom out in the piston before you tighten the wrist pin bolt. I don't think it matters whether the pin is tightened flush with the skirt or flush where it comes out of the piston. The main thing to to remember is the pin CANNOT be centered on the connecting rod and that two rods are offset towards the front of the engine and the other two are offset towards the back of the engine. If done correctly the wrist pin will be centered in the piston when you go to install it. Done wrong and the wrist pin will be flush with the piston on one side or sticking out slightly past the edge of the piston. Either of which will end up scouring and ruining the sleeve.
 
Thanks, As long as i know that im shooting to have the pin centered in the piston , /which is logical, I can go from there pretty confident
