6080 pto shaft

I recently purchased a AC 6080 and it came with a 1000rpm pto attachment. Up until now i never needed it. I have a mower that i need to pull with it that is 1000rpm. So i remove the 540 shaft and noticed on the back center it has a hole drilled about 1/2 deep. The 1000 does not. So i mount it anyway as it did match up. I noticed a pin comes out and into the rear of the shaft when mounted but because the 1000 is flat on back with no hole the pen just compressed in and now will not engage pto when lever is pulled. Does anyone know what i can do to correct this issue?
 
When you bolt up the 1000 RPM stub shaft, it is supposed to push in on that "shifter pin" to change the internal gearing to increase the speed to 1000 RPM. If you have the stub shaft fully tightened/seated and rotated it a little while tightening the nuts, I have no idea what is going on. It needs the up/down knob to the left of the seat to be UP and the clutch handle to the right of the seat to be FORWARD to make the PTO engage. Change it back to 540 and see what happens. Have you used this two lever PTO system before ??

Thank you i got it working , i didnt realize there were two levers that needed to be engaged in order for it to work. Nothing is labeled. Appreciate the help
 
AVOID operating the tractor with the clutch lever (right side yellow handle) locked in the rear position as much as possible. If you aren't using the PTO, leave it ahead and disengage the lever DOWN to the left of the seat.
