WD shifting problem

I believe it is stuck in 2nd gear with the shifter moving from middle to right. How do you fix it or get shifter out?

Pull up the rubber boot on the gearshift. Dig out the snapring and pull the shift lever up and out. DO NOT loose any of the square side alignment pins !! Lock the clutch pedal forward and reach down in there with a long screwdriver and a flashlite in your mouth and shift the lugs where they need to be in neutral and start all over. Things are worn out in there. Shift gently. Doing this in a dark shed works best for the flashlite viewing.

As Dr Alis said shift gently and don't try and yank the shift lever diagonally across the shift pattern. Move the lever distinctly front and back and right and left.

And keep an eye out for a shifter that's in better shape. Once you see the end of yours you will know what to look for. Same thing happened to me with my WD. Was able to find one in better shape, too bad the rest of the tractor sort of fell apart around the shifter over the next 20 years.
