If you see a C2 with a Perkins, it would definitely not be factory. Probably could be done if somebody wanted to spend the money.
 
What's the personal problem with a Perkins? I wouldn't have a problem with it if my K2 had a Perkins instead of the 250 Chevy that it has now.
 
No issue with a Perkins, as for the most part, they were as good as their competition at the time. Your K-2 had an excellent turbo diesel available unless it is a 1977 model, which gas only was available. A far as a GM 250 or 292 engine in a Gleaner, they were quite good and I'm not GM guy.
