Allis B-212 hydro conversion

I have an old B-212 with the 3 spd and vari drive. I use this pretty hard to push dirt/snow and have put AG lug tires with concrete wheel weights to increase traction. The result is I keep twisting axle tubes. These parts are hard to find and fix.

I found a used hydro drive out of a Cub Cadet 127 that appears to be of about the same dimensions. I am considering gutting the vari drive transaxle and BGB out of my AC and retrofit the Cub hydro directly to the engine. I am able to fab the brackets and drive shaft necessary to do this.

Anyone ever try this?
Is the Cub 127 hydro stout?
Opinions?

The Sundstrand hydro from the CC is as good and HD as it gets.

The input shaft of the CC hydro turns CCW as viewed, you would need be sure the engine is arranged to drive it that direction, as it's input is not easily reversible.

It will take a little effort and engineering to set up a speed control linkage that's safe and works well, most factory hydros are set up to shove the hydro lever in "neutral" if the operator mashes on the brakes.

CCW rotation as viewed from the front of the tractor looking back?

I havent made any measurements or comparisons but I was hoping to use the hand lever for the vari-drive as the directional/speed control. Making it set to neutral when braking may be tricky.

Any opinion about top speed as compared to the AC drive?

Yes.

Sorry I can't help you with the speeds.

Good luck with your project, it sounds like fun!

I just checked the engine rotation and it's CCW, Wheel bolt pattern seems the same. Nutbolttorchweld and I think this will work.
