acerage for a AC 66 combine

What kind of acreage can one of those old combines cover if you have a clean crop of something like wheat or oats and get started by noon time after the dew has dried off. Could be getting 8 hours of cutting time on a good day. I know there are other variables but I'm just looking for a ball park idea. AC must have promoted covering a certain amount of acres as a sales pitch. I see guys wanting small combines for 40-50 acres and they never think about something like a 66 or newer type of model that they could get for almost nothing compared to a self propelled unit. I'm thinking on a good day maybe one could do 10 acres.

Up to 15 acres a day from what I have seen and read. One thing you might be forgetting is some of these guys that want small combines for 50 acres might have full time jobs leaving them weekends or hrs after work to get the job done. What would be a 3-5 day job with a 66 could turn into a 2 week job if just doing part time. Its not like back when the 66 was new and farmers farmed full time and had all summer to cut 50 acres. Unlike corn, small grains do not weather well once ripe.

To get estimate of acreage per 10 hr day, multiply the machine's width in feet times the speed in miles per hour. That formula assumer 82.5% field efficiency, which I doubt you'll get that high with a combine.

That was a little narrower than a Deere 30, but I can tell you, I pulled a 30 more than 20 miles one day with an Oliver 77 going about 12 miles and hour, cut an 8 acre field of some pretty good wheat and was back home by 6:30.
