ca oil pressure

These are a low pressure oil system and having the wrong oil filter will cause you to have little or no pressure so you need the correct oil filter

In addition to what old said you need the correct gauge or atleast a low pressure one. Like maybe a 15 LB one. Not sure what pressure should be but 10 should be OK, maybe even less.

As these engines wear I have seen them run with little or no pressure as the oil gets hot. But the correct filter that will provide some resistance is necessary.

The Allis Chalmers CA manual says 15 pounds for the oil pump, so a 30 lb. gauge would be plenty, likely will run 7 to 10 lbs. As has been posted the filter can affect the oil pressure as they are a bypass system. Filter needs to have a packed media, not pleated paper. Loosely packed media will also lower oil pressure.

Once had a WD that wouldn't move the oil pressure gauge while running, had a loader on it figured it'd blow every time I used it.Ran it for years finally junked it to get parts for another one.

I think the operators manual says the oil gauge needle should be in the word NORMAL if you still have the original gauge. As others have said, the oil filter makes a huge difference in the oil pressure readings, make sure you have the correct one. Make sure there is a stem in the place where the oil filter screws on, Ive seen these missing and then it will read no oil pressure.
I have a CA and when running and warm the needle barely moves. It doesnt get to the word normal at all, been like this for several years and It all ways bothers me, but I use it anyway, mow the yard, and small loader work. Doesnt seem to be a problem so far. One day Ill work on it and figure it out, but never seem to have the time and it always gets the job done.
You could check the gauge accuracy to verify that its low
Good luck

On the original guage it takes about 3psi to get to the bottom of the normal range 7psi in the middle and 15 psi for the top of the range. On. 30 psi guage it will always be so close to the bottom you'll always be worried. If you have a paper pleated filter the pressure will be even lower.

I have found low oil pressure each time I change oil or filter and will not return to normal without priming the oil line coming from the oil pump. After manually priming I have been able to achieve much higher pressure.
