We have two Allis Gís, but this week Dad has had issues with what Iíll call #1. Drove it out of barn on Sat, and by Monday it wouldnít run. After a through process of elimination, swapping parts between #1 & #2, only way he got #1 to run was with the distributor from #2. BUT #2 will run with the distributor from #1. Donít really matter as there both running, but donít make much sense, any ideas?

As Jim said lose of ground in the distributor so swapping them moved things and cleaned things a bit

if the only thing done was a swap, possibly corrosion/oxidization was enough to cause loss of ground between the distributor and block in #1. The corrosion would have been disturbed by swapping the distributors around and the ground would have been re-established. Just a thought.

Many times the points will corrode just sitting around. Scrape both surfaces of the points.
