We have two Allis G’s, but this week Dad has had issues with what I’ll call #1. Drove it out of barn on Sat, and by Monday it wouldn’t run. After a through process of elimination, swapping parts between #1 & #2, only way he got #1 to run was with the distributor from #2. BUT #2 will run with the distributor from #1. Don’t really matter as there both running, but don’t make much sense, any ideas?

if the only thing done was a swap, possibly corrosion/oxidization was enough to cause loss of ground between the distributor and block in #1. The corrosion would have been disturbed by swapping the distributors around and the ground would have been re-established. Just a thought.

Many times the points will corrode just sitting around. Scrape both surfaces of the points.
