How to read hour meter

873 hrs. It looks like an old original hour meter, so there's at least that many hrs on it. Does it work ??

No, was told it hadn't worked in 20 years
but barely used. Possible estimate of around
1000 hours. Runs like new

I am not an expert but the tractor does not look original to me. There is over spray on the tachometer ring. Also the headlights should be originally black.

The tach may indeed look original, but remember, probably up until 1975 or so, one could purchase a brand new OEM tach over the counter at any Allis dealer Maybe even later than 1975, so all I'm saying is, it is a 50% chance. Either it's the original one or it isn't. Clutch pedal pivot sloppiness is an indicator. Drawbar bail and pull hole are indicators, only they too could have been replaced. The seat suspension brass bushings at the front of the suspension are a real good indicator as to how many hrs are on a tractor and/or how fat the operator was. The tie rod ends and center swing arm wear is also another area, as is the rear pivot pin area for the wide front axle wishbone. That tractor has definitely been repainted and not correctly either.

I agree it was repainted as I found a run in
paint on hood. When I bought it I thought it
was original paint. I did notice some wear
on snap coupler draw bar, front end seems
tight so hard to say actual hours and not
sure how fat owners were to assess seat. I
read on WD post above this the wet hand
clutch drags until warmed up, seems same
here. And is it normal for engine to be
noticably laboring (not too bad) to operate
rear end in nuetral? When foot clutch is
depressed engine is relieved

Do you have the hyd lever in the "hold" position? All the way up and it might sound like it's still pumping.
