is the pulley usually welded on? I cant get it off no matter what i do, Any suggestions on how to go about getting the pulley off. Thanks,

Not if it's factory. Should just be the single large setscrew holding it. Sometimes you need a good 3 jaw puller to break them loose though.

I have a duplicate post over on the restoration and tips forum with pics to show what im talking about

As Aaron says, behind the pulley is a pointed "set bolt" with a jam nut that has to be removed before you can remove the pulley.

That piece that is welded onto the front of the pulley is an adaptor for connecting a shaft to a front mounted hydraulic pump for a loader. There is a double tang adaptor that fits into those two slots in the pulley mounted piece. Sorta like the set up on a magneto.

Thanks for responding to my post/questions. Knowing that the plate isn't welded to the shaft itself is huge. I'll keep at it, it's bound to come off sooner or later.
Thanks again..

That welded on plate looks quite thick.

How about trying to tap the center hole and use a bolt to put pressure against the crankshaft, in effect making the pulley it's own puller?

Does that hole go all the way through the plate? You should be able to get a 3 jaw puller on it somehow to pull it off.

After tapping the center hole and sending a bolt through i was eventally able to pry the pulley off. Thanks guys for the suggestion. If i run into any other issues with the restore ill be sure to ask in here for help.
Thanks again.
