Main bearing crush on IB

Looking at the IT manual it shows a .0015 crush where the shell bearings mate. My question is as long as I get the proper running clearance of 1-2 using plastigauge between the crank and the bearing how do I know what the crush measurement is? I am assuming after I adjust the number of shims and get the clearance needed and able to turn the crank by hand I'm good? The crank has been turned to .02 under and I have the proper bearings. Been reviewing some old posts and was wondering when filing the bearings to make adjustments comes into play. Thank you in advance

Your crank is .020 undersize and the bearings were MATCHED to the crank, or are you still using shims ?.... If your using a shim pack, that allows you to adjust the bearing crunch.. You should have the STOCK shim pack if everything is exactly machined.... but lets say the crank is .002 UNDER the .020 size so you have too much bearing clearance.. You take out .002 inch of shims to get the CRUNCH... but now the bearing halves hit FIRST.. You have to file .002 off the bearing to get it to set down properly with the removed shims so you can get the CRUNCH.

If you have .002 clearance with the caps torqued properly and the hand crank turns the crankshaft you are good to go. If you had to much crush you would not be able to turn the crank.

first of all are you talking main brg shims or rod brgs.? i am not really familiar with this engine so was wondering as i have never seen shims on main brgs. only rod brgs. what i have done before when resizing rods is to do away with the shims and machine to proper spec. AND its not CRUNCH its CRUSH.
