Please help. I am trying to put the ca back together and i am having trouble with the push rods. When i took this apart i just pulled the pushrods out and put them in a styrofoam block so i could put them back in order. I did this with the rocker assembly on).i put the head back on and went to put the pushrods in place but they are acting like they don't fit. It seems as if there is something wrong with the tappets or could it be something else? Do i need to remove the rocker arm assembly befor putting these back in? Please help.

acting as in what? too long too short? i have see where the push rods pull out the lifters due to the oil suction on the ends of them.

and yes pushrods go in before the rocker assembly. install head and torque , install pushrods then rockers.

I am assuming you were thinking you would not have to adjust the valve clearance. I have read others trying that but it just does not work like that. some valves are open
and the rockers arms will be pressing the springs down as you tighten the rocker assembly down. You will then need to adjust the gap on the cylinder that has the valve
closed.
