Needing replacement engine for WD AC

Why not rebuild what you have. It is a wet sleeve engine so you can bring it back to what it was when new

Probably because he can find a good running WD or WD45 motor out of a parts tractor for less than 1/2 what it'd cost to rebuild one.Even running and driving WD or WC tractors can be bought for far less than the cost of a rebuild and some rebuilds don't workout so well sometimes.

Ya that is what I did with my W Speed Patrol. I picked up a non running WD for $250 and had it running on the trailer less that 2 hours latter and put the egnine from it into the speed patrol

The main determining factors would be is the current block cracked and is crankshaft ok? If there ok I like to keep original block in and it's easier for me to overhaul an engine than swap engine plus then you'll have a like new engine where the swap might need an overhaul anyways.

Old, I bought it and gave it to my boy around 10 yrs ago. He never used it. Bought a huge AC with duel rears. He got screwed as the PTO and lift is hydraulically operated, and they dont work. Says it will take 2Gs to fix it. Anyway, he finally brought it home. It was siezed up. Didnt think too much about that till I went and drained the oil. There wasnt any. BUT I drained out 6 gal of water from it. The muffler pipe just sat on top the manifold, and that let water run in it. I couldnt get the head to seperate. Ive been told all I got is a good boat anchor lol

Well it is a wet sleeve engine so new sleeves an the crank turned etc. You could have a new engien unless of course it has froze at some point in time

Old, it has set for 10yrs without running. Over that time it collected 6 gal of water in it. I couldnt get the head off. Ive asked about this before on here and most said it was worthless.

Well unless it has froze at some point it could well be put back in service but it would not be cheap due to a full engine rebuild

Back in the 50's we had a Gehl chopper with a LerRoi engine that seemed to be a WD copy with a rockford hand clutch.

AC sold rights to LeRoi to build/use that engine. Had a machine shop guy try to tell me once that AC used LeRoi engines. Wrong. Other way around.
