D17 Generator to Alternator Conversion

Good Afternoon - we could use some help. We purchased a one wire mini alternator that bolted up to the existing generator mounts on our D17 Series 3. What are the steps to wire this alternator properly? Should it go directly to the battery or to the ammeter? Currently the tractor is positive ground. What are the steps to convert this to a negative ground? All help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

To switch to - ground you need to switch the small wires on the coil and the wires on the amp gauge and you run the charge wire from the alternator to the load side of the amp gauge I.E. The side that hooks to the ignition switch

Wire that connected to BAT terminal on generator regulator now connects to output of alternator. Remove old generator, regulator and the connecting wires.

It would be good to replace the charge wire from alternator to ammeter and other side of ammeter to starter switch with a 10 gauge wire.

Old has you covered on the + to - ground change

Starter will rotate same direction regardless of ground polarity
