WD clutch and brake pedal and shaft removal (update 8/30)

I'll start out with the help I need, and then talk about my success of the day... So when it was all said and done, I found one of my "jam nut" bolts is no good (the circled one, the big piece just spins in place at the top there). Is there a good source for new ones? Or do you have to get them from parts tractors or just make your own?

Also, when I finally got the clutch and brake pedal shaft off the tractor, I literally cannot get this piece circled in red free (the piece that runs the left brake rod). I took the jam nut out, and I have taken a piece of wood and a hammer and I cannot get it to slide either direction on the shaft, nor can I get it to rotate either direction on the shaft. Thoughts?

Anyway... So today's adventure was to take the clutch and brake pedals off so I can get them sleeved, and put in the new shaft I got. So I got the big tools out and got to work.

Hmmm... Looks like I wasn't the first one in here. Maybe just to shim the brakes?

After getting that nail out, progress was good. This jam nut was stuck even though the "locking" part of it seems broken... Strange.

Okay, now to the other side...

A lot of persuasion with a wood block, then lots of wiggling and twisting on the clutch side to get her free. Looking good though!

Look at all the dirt that was knocked loose from the pedals and the shaft in the process.

As a bonus, since I am getting these sleeved, I went ahead and took off the hand clutch too. Even though I can tell the pin is worn, I am not ready to take the frame rail off to get this out right now. So the handle will have to do.

Here's my pile of parts for the day! If I can just get that last piece off the shaft, I will be set.

As a bonus... Here's the "farmer fix" I found on the clutch pedal. A piece of not quite 4x4 post bolted to the frame rail to hold the clutch pedal over in place. Definitely some rubbing between the two, but it clearly worked for a long, long time.

Making progress!! Thanks for all the assistance along the way as always, guys!

Wood Blocks now being installed on many WD's.

Haha right? I am shocked at how well it works. Rubbed the paint off on the clutch where it's been rubbing all these years, but it never went past that little nub on the frame rail with this "fix". Just a block of wood and a bolt thru the frame rail.

I have to give my grandpa all the credit for that one.
