ALLIS FOREVER

Hey everyone. I have a 49 C that’s seems a little oddball with it showing a 49 serial number in the transmission location but the engine serial number doesn’t correlate with the Ed Mills documentation which has been pretty spot on with my other B and c tractors. It also has hand brakes which I’m pretty sure were obsolete by 1949. From my best guess the motor looks to be an early 1940 but maybe someone can chime in. I cant find any reference for this engine, serial number # CE2688G. The casting number under the plugs reads AM2916-12 which I believe is a 1940 but I’m not sure. Does anyone have pictures of an engine serial number from a 1940 Allis c?
I’m starting to think it’s a 1940 Allis C and maybe the transmission or trans case was changed with a 1949 trans hence it having what I think is a 1940 motor and hand brakes.
Any help appreciated
Thanks
