WD Transmission Shift Tower

I removed the shift tower on a 1949 WD to replace a leaking gasket .
I cannot get the transmission tower on and get the gears to function correctly , can some one advise me on how to reassemble this

A 1949 WD has a sliding gear type transmission. Normally, you shift the transmission gears into second gear and the shifter tower also into second gear to install it. It is somewhat tricky. You might invent some new cuss words. When you slide the cover into place, just install 2 bolts and quickly try to shift into all the gears before installing all the bolts.
