D17 SERIES IV DIESEL power director clutch

hey forum. curious on the power director clutch (hand clutch). i adjust the plate to stop the tractor as it should with the notch acting as neutral. in forward it works fine, however seems to always be engaged in reverse resulting in me having to use the foot clutch to stop. i am sure the clutch needs adjusting tractor has 3850hrs and i doubt it was ever adjusted. what does everyone think??

OK. Let's be clear. You have the LOW-NEUTRAL-HIGH "Power Director" clutch ?? or the REVERSE-NEUTRAL-FORWARD "Shuttle" clutch ?? Either way the neutral notch gate should be exactly half-way between the grabbing point of the hand lever for each range.

i have the high neutral low power director. it seems to be fine in forward but in reverse it will creep backwards. maybe just another minor
adjustment. thanks for the reply

(quoted from post at 08:37:10 07/16/20) i have the high neutral low power director. it seems to be fine in forward but in reverse it will creep backwards. maybe just another minor
adjustment. I'm still too stupid to figure out what you're trying to get across here. You say it "creeps" more when the transmission is in REVERSE ?? If this is true, then it will also creep the same amount when the transmission is in LOW gear and to a lesser degree in SECOND gear. This is absolutely normal and creeping is less and less when the hydraulic oil is actually warmed up to normal operating temp of 150 degrees or more. This hot enough you cannot hold your hand on the side of the torque housing for only a couple of seconds. Creeping in FORTH gear is the least amount and THIRD being less than LOW or SECOND gears.

LOL trust me its def not you. let me keep the stupid. when you say about the oil warming up this makes sense because when i first adjusted
it, is when it was the worse and tractor hydro def were not warm(motor was,i adjusted in park and had left the hand clutch in where should be
neutral and just moved it till the drop pin latched and hoped on her and drove it). regardless you answered the question just fine when you
said they should be the same i will re adjust when it is warm. i am just trying to learn/figure out whats worth attention and whats not. is
3500hrs a lot of hrs or how does it rank in repairs or adjustments that should be looked at. or is this more determined by wear and tare.
