200 started changing RPM while in hay field

Varies from 1550 to 1850 while mowing. Nice if it was a fuel filter issue but is that too much to wish for? While sitting at no load runs OK. Starts great. Thanks, LB

It may be more than the filter but, why not just change the filter and rule that out?
 

Sounds like the governor ring in the injection pump maybe going bad. Should have a RoosaMaster pump with a small rectangle timing cover held on with two screws. You can take the cover loose and diesel will run out...check for small chunks of black crumbles in the timing cover hole....if so that's the governor ring.

Pieces of the governor ring can block the fuel return fitting on top the pump and cause the engine to lose power or die. If it gets that far...you can loosen the timing window cover screws to let fuel run out and and it will run(spewing diesel)...
