Need help identifying my tractor model and year

I have an Allis Chambers with hand brakes and electrical starter, I was told it was a 1954 WC, but after checking I don't believe that's correct.

I'm no expert but I don't think they made the WC in 1954, I think they stopped in the late 40's. With hand brakes it could be a WC, just not 1954. Allis put the serial numbers on the back of the differential housing. With that and a model you can find the year.

Hand brakes and electric start would either be a WC or B. Is it narrow front with c channel frame rails? That'd be a WC. Serial number is on the back of the differential housing above the PTO.

I found a number 4887-B-54 or 4487-8-54 can,t tell if it is a B or an 8

(quoted from post at 19:12:34 07/01/20) can,t upload my picture

You should be able to post pictures soon, usually it takes 5, or a few more, posts before it will let you post pictures, one of the things to stop spammers. Just keep trying. In the meantime, these may help: 1 is a WC. 2 is the WC serial number location. 3. is a B, and 4 is the B serial number location. Note all the serial numbers will be stamped into the metal, not raised casting numbers.

1948 was the last the WC was made, not many was produced. The WD replaced the WC in 1948.
Thank you this is very helpful my tractor has the narrow front end, does that rule out the B model tractors...?

I don't know that Bs ever had a narrow front.

Did you look for the serial number? The WC was available as a styled model and those would look more like the B sheet metal. The C had hand brakes on early models. The C and CA serial numbers will be near the shifter like the B. WDs came after the WC and the serial numbers will be on the rear housing near the left brake chamber. The model letter(s) will precede the actual tractor unit number. Best you find the serial number, and post pictures when you can.

Find the serial number and be sure of which one it is. Look at the rear of the differential and near the shifter. The serial number should be in one of those locations and will begin with the model letters.

Its a WC. An RC would have a smaller hood, the B engine, and more room in front of the radiator.

I think I found the Serial Number
WC1546
can you tell what year it is from this...?

Number on the Motor Block is W1621386
or W162138G

(Checking the charts on this site and at Unofficial Allis) 28 was the last serial number in 1933 and 3126 was the last number in 1934 so yours would fall between those two numbers making your WC a 1934.

You use the tractor serial number on the rear axle housing to determine the year, not the engine serial number. WC 1546 falls in the 1934 build year.

(quoted from post at 12:01:44 07/13/20) what about the electric start...?
I thought 39 was the first year for electric start...?

Electric start became standard in 1939, it was optional before that, from info I've seen There is also a possibility you may have a "mutt", having parts from two or more tractors combined. A lot can happen in 86 years.

Could be, the wheels look at lot newer than other 33's I've seen on here.
