1952 Allis B--Twisted my PTO shaft in two

Was mowing 8 acres of pasture. No cows on it since last winter. Was waist high, and wanted to chop off the weed flowers, before they go to seed. Using a 42" Howse rotary mower, and lugging the little B down badly, but getting the job done. First a pto shear pin sheared, at about 2 acres done. Replaced the shear pin and continued to mow. With around 3 acres left the mower acted like another shear pin had sheared, but that was not the case. after raising the mower, and spinning the shaft by hand, everything turned ok, and acted like I had disengaged the PTO lever. that was when I noticed the PTO seal, going into the housing, was out of place, and riding on the shaft, between the override clutch, and the housing. I took it to the shop, and spent the rest of the afternoon stripping off parts. When I got the housing off the transmission, I found the PTO shaft had sheared between the two pump cams. I have an old parts C with a sickle mower on it, that is badly siezed up. Think tomarrow I will try to pull the PTO housing off the C, and see if I can put the entire housing on the B. I am betting, that I will end up here on the forum, begging for help, before this is done!

You should be able to do that swap. They are the same parts.

I certainly hope so! I removed the unit, from the C today, and is very awkward for me to handle. I think, I will try to get a husky grand son, to help me install it. I need another set of eyes any way, to guide it back togeather level, and be sure the oil tube goes in the right hole. I had to remove the seat frame, and sickle bar mower frame work to get in there, on the C. everything, on the mower superstructure was well rusted, so I heated 25 to 30 nuts to cherry red. That is slow! I sure don't like the old square nuts!
