AC B Engine Overhaul

Fixin to have my B's engine rebuilt. I'd like to increase power, but I've read where there isn't much you can do - just porting the intake valves and using a D15 governor spring. Any thoughts?

I think a lot of the rebuild kits you get are 1/8" over bore and they well have higher compression pistons but I am not sure of that. With a fresh engine and the over bore kit you should have plenty of power.

You can have the head milled .150 to increase the compression. I have taken .200 on one without a problem. Chevy small block valves along with porting for easier air flow.
Here's one with .150 milled off and Chevy valves with the ports opened up and polished some.

An easy one to do if it'd work is use D14 or D15 parts. Then you'd go from 125 to 149 cubes. I do not know if the sleeves and crank would fit the B block though.

If you can find a 149 cubic inch engine to put in, you will noticeably increase your power. I gave my Dad a 149 that he put in his B. With oversize rear tires he can plow snow up a long steep hill while running in third gear, impossible with the 125. It takes a few modifications but not too bad.
