Hello friends. I am trying to bring back an Allis Chalmers model B back to life. I have a few questions I was hoping someone could help me with.
This tractor does not appear to have a thermostat. Not sure if one was designed to go in the radiator hose? I understand some had a bypass. Not sure if I should put a thermostat in this tractor. I don't believe I have the 4 bolt housing, but the old 2 bolt housing.
This tractor leaks out of the front crackshaft seal. The new seal seems fairly cheap ($8) but not sure how to install. Most videos I have seen just show to pull the old one out and drive the new one in? Any tips or tricks?
Any tips on adjusting the brakes on this tractor? I didn't know if I could adjust the breaks to see if I have any pad left before I remove the wheel weights and tires. Perhaps pads are fine, just out of adjustment?
What paint do you typically use to restore your tractors? I was going to use Tractor / Implement paint but not sure if it will take the heat of the block (180 degrees). Any tips?
Thanks in advance to all your wisdom!
