Hoping somebody can help me unscramble my mind. Drove my D14 into the shop to replace the points, plugs, wires, cap rotor and fan belt. completed that now it wont turn over, charged the battery, nothing, tried another battery, nothing, pulled the starter, rolls easily both manually and electrically, tested the solenoid, it works but seems to have a sizable voltage drop 11.7 drops to about 8. this is just the solenoid nothing connected to it. I would just buy one and replace it but the number on the solenoid doesn't match anything on the parts list, Solenoid is stamped DR1114235-12. Tractor is 12v Positive ground.
any help out there?

Any parts store should be able to cross the Delco Remy (DR) number (1114235). It appears it crosses to a Standard brand SS 547A, for one cross. Do not let them go by looks if you purchase one.

I would suggest carefully checking battery cables and all the cable connections, before you replace the solenoid. It could be a bad connection where it grounds to the tractor or a cable could be bad internally. With the battery cables connected, run one lead of a booster cable set to the battery positive terminal and the other end of that lead to a bare metal spot on the chassis or to the starter mount bolt and see what happens when you try it. If it turns you have a problem in the ground circuit.

THANK YOU Jim. I took your advice and first cleaned each connection with a scotchbright pad, then did as you suggested and it rolled over like it should, took the jumpers off and it started right up. Thank you for the advice, it sounded simple and I guess sometimes its the simple stuff that gets you. Now a little tweaking and Ill be ready for the season.

While you are working on it look to see where the ground cable is bolted,it should be bolted to the mainframe of the tractor,a lot of times it'll be on some of the angles that are bolted to the frame and the angles won't have a good connection.
